Good Afternoon everyone! I hope you’ve been enjoying every possible moment left to the summer season as it is fading away far too quickly. The summer always seemed to last forever when I was a kid, and now it’s over before I even have time to do any of the things I had planned! But one of the things that you can look forward to as summer comes to a close is getting ready for back to school!
As a kid, I loved to get all of the school supplies for a new year! Back then (decades ago!) the list of supplies wasn’t even CLOSE to being as extensive as it is these days, but I still enjoyed picking out backpacks, notebooks, pens, and maybe even a new Trapper Keeper (look it up kids, they rocked!). I was never one who enjoyed the back-to-school clothes shopping as much because I had to shop in the “larger” sizes and what was offered was never as cool as the regular-sized clothes. But I know that most kids love the idea of shopping for new clothes to start the school year out right!
Even though my husband and I don’t have children of our own, sometimes I get to live vicariously through my sister and help with back-to-school shopping for my three nieces and my nephew. This year, we shopped for new Converse sneakers for each of them and I also helped stock up on makeup for the two oldest nieces as they head to high school – one of them starting her freshman year! I always love seeing their personalities shine through in their style and color choices when we shop!
Even though back-to-school shopping always signifies the end of summer drawing near, I hope this has gotten you excited about getting ready for a new school year to begin! Plus, don’t forget all of the fun you can have in the fall too – campfires and roasting marshmallows can still continue after the summer ends but now the nice cool weather comes in and makes it even more enjoyable! Don’t forget to be on the lookout for my future blog post all about the fun times we can enjoy in the fall season – and be ready to share your favorite fall activities!
Do you have any rituals for back-to-school shopping? Any special stores that you always frequent for clothes, shoes, or school supplies? What is your favorite thing about this time of year? I love to hear everyone’s stories and ideas and I’m sure everyone else who reads this post would love the shares too so don’t forget to add your comments!
